Head coach Ryan Tong leads a veteran team into Division I competition for the first time since 2011, after much success at the DII level. Basically all five starters return from last year’s squad which finished 14-2 and third in the DII state tournament. Four of those five have started the past three seasons.

The Junior Rainbows are off to another strong start, having won four in a row after losing the season opener at Kailua. Todd McKinney, a 5-10 junior guard, has led the offense by averaging 13 points per game, including 18 in the loss to Kailua. He has scored in double figures all five games. Forward Trey Ambrozich, a 6-7 junior, is right behind at 11.6 ppg and Alika Ahu is averaging 10.4 ppg including 16 points in a 56-35 victory over Campbell.

Kenna Quitan, a 5-9 junior guard, is another returning starter who is averaging nine points per game.
