The Trojans return seven players — including four starters — from last year’s 9-6 team which finished sixth in the O’ahu Interscholastic Association and earned a Division I state tournament berth. The returning starters are point guard Brooke Kurasaki, shooting guard Shania Wilson, multi-position player Akemi Kawamata and forward Autumn Lagafuaina. Head coach Kyle Kurasaki is looking to run a lot of motion offense, to make up for a general lack of team height. Sophomore Zennalenn Nelson is expected to lead a trapping pressure defense designed to create turnovers.
Mililani began this season with a 38-37 loss to Punahou, but followed with four straight victories to improve to 4-1. Kawamata and Wilson — who scored a game-high 14 points against Punahou — have led the scoring effort.
