The Owls of Mid-Pacific join the ‘Iolani Classic for the tenth time in 2019. Led by first-year head coach Robert Shklov, MPI will rely on some veteran players. A four-year starter, 5’11 Point Guard Kamana Lapina enters the year as a clear leader for the Owls. He will be flanked by two versatile junior forwards, 6’4 Elijah Kahue-Parker, an aggressive shot creator and high level defender and 6’7 Kala Nakaya, a crafty inside-out scorer and shot disruptor. Junior Henry Man, a 6’0 swingman, and sophomore guards, 5’10 Apollo Espania, and 5’10 James Smotherman, will also be expected to contribute.

Coach Shklov commented: “The expectation this season and all seasons are to play with honest effort, peak intensity and high intelligence. We expect to be competitive at all times and strive to be at the top of the ILH and our state.”
